Armed with a single, well-used forest green Dodge Ram as its first company truck, Fenton, alongside his sons, Dave and Joe, laid the groundwork for what would become a cornerstone in the region's construction landscape. Fenton’s brother Warren joined the company in 2002, further strengthening its foundation.

While Groen Builders’ early years focused on residential projects, a pivotal moment arrived with the early adoption and mastery of ICF technology in 2001, establishing the company as a recognized leader in this developing, energy-efficient building method. This expertise provided the base for a strategic pivot into the commercial sector in 2014, quickly earning acclaim for innovative approaches. To better reflect its comprehensive commercial services and expanded vision, the company officially rebranded to Groen Construction in 2016.
