MANCHESTER - The Rochester Voice was recognized for its excellence in journalism at the New Hampshire Press Association Distinguished Journalism Awards Banquet on May 29, winning four awards including a first place in the General News category.
The Rochester Voice took first-, second- and third-place in the General New category, third for its series of stories on Rochester's Heroin Crisis, second for its stories on the 10-year anniversary of two teenage girls who survived being hit by a freight train in Lebanon, Maine, and first place for its ongoing coverage in the death of a Rochester man, Mike Burns, who was killed under mysterious circumstances in Saco in 2017.
The digital daily also won second-place recognition for its three-part series on the state's mental health crisis.
