Rochester Girls Softball League Hosts New England Regionals

The Rochester Girls Softball League is comprised of countless parent and/or community volunteers/businesses- as well as a hardworking, dedicated group of girls ages 16 and under who play competitive softball all spring at our facility in Rochester –and during the summer month’s travel across New Hampshire and New England. The Rochester Slammers are affiliated with the Rochester Girls Softball League, and all of the players play spring softball in that league. 

The Rochester Slammers build on the fundamentals taught during the spring season, allowing the players to play against the best competition in the region. This allows the girls to grow as players, as well as people; teaching them to win honorably, and lose graciously. However, probably the most important lessons learned are that hard work and commitment pay off, and that lesson is used in every aspect of their lives. 

There are, however many expenses connected with running the teams and providing the training the girls require. For funding, we rely for solely on our own fundraising events and the support of local businesses. 

This July 24th-27th, 2014 - our League has been awarded the opportunity to host the 2014 Babe Ruth New England Regional’s at our facility Roger Allen Park in Rochester NH.

As you can imagine there is extensive planning that is undertaken to make this event a success, as there are slated to be 24 teams participating from throughout the greater New England Region.

RGSL is responsible for some major expenses during this tournament; including compensation of required umpires, police detail, trophies and concession costs. We are also hosting two major events over the tournament- the first event being a welcome dinner (pasta dinner with salad, drinks and cake) open to all players and coaches (approx 384 people). 

The second is a skills competition for all the girls to have fun and get to know each other.
