On Saturday, June 21st, the racers will travel to downtown Rochester where they will stop for lunch and enjoy an event put on by Rochester Main Street and the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

The Great Race is an antique, vintage, and collector car competitive controlled-speed endurance road rally on public highways. It is not a test of top speed. It is a test of a driver/navigator team's ability to follow precise course instructions and the car's (and team's) ability to endure on a cross-country trip. The course instructions require the competing teams to drive at or below the posted speed limits at all times.
According to Jeff Strumb, Director, Great Race, ?The Great Race has traveled all across the country in the last 31 years putting on the world?s greatest old car rally, and we seek out wonderful American communities like Rochester to host stops on the event. As soon as we crossed the state line over the Salmon Falls River and into Rochester, we knew we wanted to have a stop there. Dealing with the staff at the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and Rochester Main Street along with all of the folks in the community has been wonderful, and we expect a huge turnout to see this incredible event. The stop in Rochester on Saturday, June 21, will be the first time ever the Great Race has stopped in New Hampshire. After adding Maine and New Hampshire in 2014, the Great Race will have been to 46 of the 50 states, missing only Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota and Rhode Island. There will be more than 100 antique cars ? most dating to before World War II ? rolling into town starting at 12:30 p.m. June 21. The oldest, a 1915 Hudson racer, is trying to finish it first Great Race in three tries.?Hundreds of racers will be attending this event and will attract many to our city. The public is welcome to attend this event at no charge where they can meet the racers and view the cars. An event complete with entertainment and food will take place along Hanson Street.
