The Thank a Rochester Cop Committee is once again inviting the community to "paint the city blue" for National Thank a Police Officer Day on Saturday, September 19.
Throughout August and September, residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to show their appreciation for the Rochester Police Department by displaying blue decorations to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and service of the officers who work every day to keep the community safe. Community members can show their support by decorating their homes, businesses, and workplaces throughout the month of September. Ideas include displaying blue bows or yard signs, replacing a porch light with a blue bulb, hanging blue ribbons, or adding blue lights to porches, windows, or landscaping.
Decorations will also be available throughout August and September at the committee's community "decoration stations" during regular business hours:
Profile Bank
Holy Rosary Credit Union
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce
Granite Steak & Grill
Decorations are available at no cost thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, although donations are always appreciated to help support the committee's efforts. The Thank a Rochester Cop Committee also welcomes sponsorships and community donations to help expand this year's celebration and continue recognizing the outstanding service of Rochester's police officers. Businesses and individuals interested in supporting the campaign or learning more can visit https://rochestermainstreet.org/our-work/initiatives/rochester-thank-a-cop/ or follow Thank a Rochester Cop on Facebook.
