PORTSMOUTH (April 10, 2017) – At the 7th Annual Seacoast Veterans Conference, veterans of every age and military branch, shared their stories of active duty and returning home from World War II through post 9-11. This year’s conference theme was “From Your Lips to Our Ears – A Caring Outreach Response.”

More than 200 people attended the conference hosted by Service Credit Union. Veterans and their families met with multiple service providers and agencies specializing in providing benefits and specialty services to the military.

Dan Marcek, owner of Vetflix, a Brookline, N.H. company specializing in interviewing veterans and sharing their stories through film was one of the guest speakers.  Vetflix showed a video presentation of veterans’ stories and followed with an interactive discussion on the military experience.

Another guest speaker Brigadier General Laurie Farris, Chief of Staff New Hampshire Air National Guard talked about her military experience. “Teamwork is really key,” said Farris. “I truly believe in it and that’s why I am here today.” She continued by talking about her tough time at the Air Force Academy being the only woman in pilot training. “Don’t be bitter, just make it better,” she added.

Brigadier General (Ret.) Carolyn Protzmann was the master of ceremonies of the conference and thanked Service Credit Union for graciously hosting the conference.
“It’s our privilege to host this event,” said David Van Rossum, President/CEO of Service Credit Union. “It’s such a worthy endeavor. We look forward to hosting this conference in many years to come.”
