Legendary blues artist James Montgomery will headline the Third Annual Recovery Rocks Concert being hosted by SOS Recovery Community Organization (SOS RCO) September 23rd at the Rochester Opera House. Sponsors of this year’s event to date are The Shark 102.1 & 105.3, Turbocam International, People’s United Bank and Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank,
Joining Montgomery on stage will be Barry Goudreau, former lead guitarist for Boston and the Sax Attack Horn Band. Tickets for the event, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and may be purchased on line at sosrco.org.org.
“We are excited to have such an amazing line up of high profile talent at this year’s Recovery Rocks,” says John Burns, director of SOS Recovery Community Organization. “From James Montgomery, who has toured with major artists from Aerosmith and Bruce Springsteen to Barry Goudreau, a former member of the multi-platinum selling band Boston, the evening promises to be a music lover’s dream.”
In addition to Montgomery and company, this year’s concert will also feature the two well-known and popular bands August First, a Massachusetts based band that celebrates the many musical incarnations of Jerry Garcia and Erin Harpe and the Delta Swingers. Called one of the “most dynamic, talented and exciting roots rocking blues women on the scene” by Living Blues Magazine, Erin Harpe and her Boston Music Award winning band recently released their second album, Big Road.
Prior to the Recovery Rocks Concert on September 23rd, SOS RCO will also be hosting a Recovery Rally from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Henry Law Park.
“As September is National Recovery Month, we’re hosting this event to create awareness about the fact that recovery is not only possible, but is happening in our community,” says Burns. “The message of the Recovery Rally is one of hope - to let people know there is hope, to bring together individuals who have been impacted by addiction and to celebrate the fact that people can and do recovery.”
In addition to inspirational speakers, music and a variety of other activities and events, this family friendly event will also feature various exhibitors so that people can learn about the numerous recovery prevention, treatment and recovery support programs that are available in the community.

Proceeds from the event will benefit SOS RCO.
