Northeast Credit Union is proud to honor New Hampshire Veterans with a recent $5,000 donation to support Honor Flight New England and its mission of transporting World War II Veterans to Washington, D.C to visit the World War II Memorial. In addition to the sponsorship and approaching Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11 – all NECU branches are promoting the purchase of “Stars” throughout this month. NECU Members are able to purchase the stars in varying dollar ranges. All proceeds collected this month will go directly to Honor Flight New England.

“On behalf of Northeast Credit Union, we recognize and honor our local World War II Veterans and the sacrifices they have made,” said Timothy J. Collia, NECU President & CEO. “One of our NECU staff members accompanied Honor Flight New England on a recent trip to Washington, D.C. She came back with some incredible pictures and stories of our local World War II Veterans who have never seen the World War II Memorial before. Honor Flight New England does an incredible job organizing these visits and we are happy to help support these memorable trips for our local World War II Veterans.”

“It was an honor to be part of this trip with Honor Flight New England,” said Mamie Phelan, Marketing Specialist at Northeast Credit Union. “Throughout our visit, Welcoming Committees lined the walkways giving cheers, applause and personal handshakes to every World War II Veteran that passed by. I shared in many sentimental moments throughout the day. Honor Flight New England is a wonderful organization. I’m proud my employer supports such a worthy organization,” (see photo attached of recent trip).

“We are very thankful for Northeast Credit Union’s support, said Joe Byron, Founder, Honor Flight New England. “Plus Northeast’s continued support through the month of November with the selling of the stars is another kind gesture that also allows their members to be part of this organization to help honor our local World War II Veterans. The monies raised help us continue to support these trips with no cost to the Veteran.”

Collia adds that you don’t need to be a Northeast Credit Union member to purchase a Honor Flight New England Star.  The stars are available for purchase throughout the month of November at any of the credit union’s 15 branch locations throughout the State.
