After a dire plea of help for donations from the Homeless Center for Strafford County, Northeast Credit Union (NECU) and Holy Rosary Credit Union (HRCU) are collaborating to restock depleted food supplies and provide gifts for families in need this holiday season.  In a joint donation, both Credit Unions donated $1,000 each, plus they delivered food, gifts and other in-kind donations to the Shelter.

The Homeless Center for Strafford County (HCSC) is a seasonal emergen
cy shelter for children and families located in Rochester, N.H.

According to Susan Ford, HCSC Executive Director, donations are down from previous years.  “We are very thankful for the generous donations that Northeast Credit Union and Holy Rosary Credit Union are providing to the shelter,” said Ford. “In addition to donating money a
nd adopting three families this holiday season by purchasing gifts, we are overwhelmed to learn that credit union employees also rallied to contribute with gifts and in-kind donations of food and other non-perishable items that our families need.”

“Northeast Credit Union and Holy Rosary Credit Union share the same social philosophy – and that’s people helping people,” said Timothy J. Collia, NECU Preside
nt & CEO.

“We talked with our friends at Northeast Credit Union, and without hesitation we both knew that by collaborating together, the shelter would receive double the financial and in-kind support that they desperately need,” said Brian Hughes, HRCU President & CEO.

Ford adds that gifts can range in anything from food to household products, even gas cards.
  • A $20 gas card will help fuel a family’s car for a week
  • $40 will pay for 4 prescriptions for sick individuals
  • $50 will buy a meal for the entire Shelter which consists of 20+ people
  • $100 pays from the transportation shuttle to and from the shelter for a whole week for residents without vehicles
