Northeast Credit Union has proudly continued its support of offering tax preparation with a $5,000 donation to the United Way of the Greater Seacoast. For the last nine years, NECU has been a strong supporter of the United Way of Greater Seacoast’s Family Financial Stability Initiative.“Northeast Credit Union is a strong supporter of financial literacy,” said Timothy J. Collia, Northeast Credit Union President and CEO. “We believe it is our responsibility to assist our members and the community by offering resources to assist with financial education and that includes the importance of filing of your taxes. We applaud the United Way of the Greater Seacoast for this initiative.”
“The United Way of Greater Seacoast and Northeast Credit Union share the same goal, and that is connecting people with financial education and resources,” said Cindy Boyd, Managing Director of the United Way of Greater Seacoast. “Through Northeast’s financial assistance we are able to help countless families not only file their taxes, but also educate them on other financial benefits that they may be eligible for. Knowledge is the first step to being financially smart.”
In addition to the financial support, NECU donated conference room space at their Portsmouth branch for the volunteers to work with members of the community. More than 800 tax refunds were filed this year through this successful collaboration between NECU, United Way of Greater Seacoast and the CA$H Coalition of New Hampshire. The program also supported by the CA$H Coalition of New Hampshire provided free tax preparation to low and moderate income members of the community through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).
