The Franklin Gallery at RiverStones Custom Framing, 33 N. Main Street in Rochester, will host an exhibit during the month of February called The Late Bloomer Artist featuring the work of Debbie Mueller.  Kris Ebbeson, the proprietor of RiverStones Custom Framing and manager of the Franklin Gallery, will hold an opening reception on Thursday, February 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The public is invited and light refreshments will be served.
Debbie Mueller, who is a doctor at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, only began painting in February 2016.  Both of her parents are creators.  Her mother, Judy Underberg, is a lifelong artist; her father is a craftsman, creating pottery, stained glass and unique kaleidoscopes.  Debbie began her painting career last year while visiting her parents in Florida.  “On a quiet afternoon, my mother pulled out some acrylic paints, and I created a painting of a dock at dusk from a photo I had taken the day before,” said Debbie.  “It was kinda fun.  No it was really fun, so I painted again the next day.”  Upon her return to New Hampshire, she purchased a set of acrylic paints, brushes, and canvases, and her journey began.
Since that time, she has painted nearly every day and taken classes with Susan Schwake, Tom Glover, and Pamela duLong Williams.  She quickly expanded into using oils and keeps a tiny set of watercolors that fits in her purse.  “I have been continually inspired by the work of other local artists, particularly my next door neighbor, Christy Hegarty,” said Mueller.  “I have become blessed with the gift of seeing our environment through the eyes of a painter, and beauty surrounds us.  More than anything, I see my future, where I can continue to study and practice that which makes my heart sing.”
“As a new artists, Mueller is still finding her ‘style,’” says Ebbeson. “But her work is wonderful.  Come witness the journey of this artist who just began her painting career last year and teaches all of us that it is never too late to try something new.”
RiverStones Custom Framing and the Franklin Gallery are open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. For information about the The Late Bloomer Artist exhibit and other RiverStones events and services, call (603) 812-1488 or send e-mail to riverstonescustomframing@gmail.com
