MeCa, is a modern country duo comprised of cousins David James and Ellen Masse. The duo has been a New England favorite since the early 1990s. Representing the State of Maine, James and Masse have received national awards from the Country Music Organizations Of America, including “Record Of The Year” (1995’s “Be With Me”), “Vocal Group Of The Year,” “Female Vocalist Of The Year” and “Female Entertainer Of The Year,” and “Male Vocalist Of The Year” and “Male Entertainer Of The Year.”

MeCa’s latest collection of songs includes new material, from their cd “Hand Prints”, released in April of 2013, as well as such classics as “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Something Stupid” and “The Rose.” In collaboration with more than 30 songwriters, the singers think this is their finest collection of music yet.

The duo recently explained why they named their new CD, “Handprints.”

“We tossed around all kinds of titles, but when we thought about what we hope people feel and understand about our music, the message for us is this: Every single person we have met through our lives and through music has in some way left a mark on us, or a ‘handprint’. Those unique handprints stay with us, and make us who we are,” they said. “Our wish is that our music leaves a ‘handprint’ on the hearts of those that listen to it. So many have left handprints on our hearts ... so it’s an amazing give-and-take relationship a performer has with their audience when sharing music. It’s a feeling and an emotion that’s hard to understand, but when you feel it, you know it, and it’s worthy of goose bumps!”

The duo is a local favorite that performs every year at the CampWaban Telethon.
