Bank of New Hampshire is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Start-Up 2014 business competition hosted by the Greater Rochester Business Accelerator. “Bank of New Hampshire is dedicated to providing encouragement and service to local start-up businesses,” stated Jonathan Shapleigh, VP – Commercial Banker for Bank of New Hampshire and the Chair of Start-Up 2014. “We understand that it is the commitment of local entrepreneurs who help keep our economy going and are pleased to see the growth of this community competition.”

The finalist round of START-UP 2014, a competition for New Hampshire business start-ups and would-be entrepreneurs, will be held from 5:30 pm to 8 pm on May 8th at 36 Industrial Way in Rochester. This year, there is even more at stake for the finalists: a prize package of cash and in-kind services that add up to more than $30,000 – plus positive exposure in the Seacoast business community.

“Last year, more than 200 people came to watch contestants put forth a winning idea and business plan, hoping to hook the big prize,” said Mary Ellen Humphrey of the City of Rochester Office of Economic Development. “To see how a new business idea takes hold and develops right in front of your eyes makes for great entertainment.” Last year’s contest boosted the profile of finalists, including winner, Kinetic Surface Control, featured on the cover of Business New Hampshire magazine among other media outlets. “That’s exactly what we hope for… to shine a light on the innovative and creative pool of talent growing up in the Seacoast region,” said Humphrey.
