SUMMARY:Transition Fair: Monarch School of New England
DESCRIPTION:It is said that when you turn 21\, you become an adult. With 'adulthood\,' comes serious questions: do I want a job or do I want to go to school\; if school\, do I want a 2-year technical degree or a 4-year college degree\; what are the skills I need for a job\; where do I want to live\; what do I need for money to support myself or do I want to be at home?\n\nThese questions are challenging for all young adults but especially for young adults living with disabilities. In New Hampshire\, students in special education can attend school until 21 years of age\, but planning for this stage in life requires time\, preparation and coordination with the support of their families\, schools and community teams.\n\nTo help address some of these questions and challenges faced by students with disabilities during this process\, the Monarch School of New England is pleased to announce its first annual Transition Fair\, to be held on Thursday March 15\, 2018. Similar to a college fair\, this event will feature speakers\, resources and information on a variety of important topics\, including: access to Vocational Rehabilitation services in New Hampshire and Maine\, work based learning skills\, community employment opportunities\, transition planning services and networking resources from parents and area agencies.\n\nThe event will be held from 4-6 at the MSNE Regional High School & Vocational Center\, at 13 Monarch Way\, in Rochester\, NH. Area school district representatives\, community members\, and all students with special needs and their families are invited to attend. Please RSVP or direct requests for more information to: Isaac Hutchinson\, Transition Coordinator\, at: ihutchinson@monarchschoolne.org\, no later than: Thursday\, March 8\, 2018.
