SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting at New Hampshire Farm Museum
DESCRIPTION:The Chamber invites you to join the NH Farm Museum in celebration of the grand opening of the historic 1801 Plummer Ridge School House. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the 1801 Plummer's Ridge School House:\n\n\n\nThe NH Farm Museum is excited about a new addition to the museum: the old and cherished 1801 Plummer's Ridge one-room schoolhouse! \n\n\n\nThe schoolhouse was originally built about a mile South of the Museum so that the children from the farms on Plummer's Ridge did not have to travel long distances to downtown Milton\, especially in the winter. The last school session was in 1912. The building was sold in 1922 to the Plummer's Ridge Sewing Circle that hosted fondly remembered "School House Potluck Suppers". Prior to the acquisition by the New Hampshire Farm Museum\, it was owned by the Town of Milton and maintained primarily by John Katwick\, a long-time resident of Milton. \n\nRealizing the historical significance of the schoolhouse\, the Farm Museum is adding the Little School House to the Museum grounds to extend current activities for education.
