SUMMARY:Primo Cubano
DESCRIPTION:LATIIN DANCE FESTIVAL with PRIMO CUBANO\n\n\n\nPRIMO CUBANO plays Cuban-style Son\, Salsa\, and Cha Cha... the kind of Latin music that people want to dance to... with strong rhythmic beats and Spanish harmonies. The Opera House floor will be flat with chairs removed for a massive wooden dance floor. Skilled Latin dancers are expected to come from Maine\, Massachusetts and NH. During the band break there will be dance performances by two professional dance companies: ELEGANZA and FLUERE. \n\n\n\nPrimo Cubano plays traditional Cuban dance music called "SON" dating back to the turn of the 20th Century. Son is the most popular style to come out of Cuba and is the primary contributor to the blend of Latin styles today known as Salsa. It was first a music of the country people and eventually migrated to Havana\, where it was urbanized and began to draw a wider audience. \n\n?\n\nPrimo Cubano consists of Paul D'Alessio on Tres Cubano and vocals\, Marc Chillemi on Trumpet\, percussion and vocals\, Lenny Hatch on Congas\, Bongo and Bell\, Duane Edwards on Upright Bass\, and Eric Winter on Timbales\, percussion and vocals.\n\n\n\nDoors open at 6:30pm with a cash bar. For those would like to learn there will be an introductory salsa dance lesson from 7:30 to 8pm. After the band there will be more dancing until midnight with recorded music. Tickets are only $16 including the ticking fee. \n\n\n\nHelp make this a special annual event\, just before Cinco de Mayo at The Rochester Opera House!
